Apparently the U.S foreclosure crises has some buyers making bargain
purchases of foreclosed homes selling on eBay. With some homes selling
outright (free and clear of liens) for less than $10,000.
One
apparent bargain among larger character homes happened on June 13,
2009. When a large 6 bedroom, 1 bathroom, Victorian home located in
Donora, Pennsylvania had received only 2 bids when it sold outright for
$7,000.
According to James Massey, publisher of AffordableHousingAuctions.com,
a free website which tracks the lowest priced foreclosed homes
(nationwide) selling on eBay. “In some (economically) hard hit areas
people are understandably scared to commit to a home purchase and it’s
likely affecting the bidding. I’ve been seeing homes in those areas
selling for under $10,000 for awhile now.”
Massey added;
“Regardless of price, it’s important to proceed with the utmost of
caution before buying anything in an auction situation. Making sure the
neighborhoods safe, the house (structurally) sound, and the title
clear, should be a top priority before bidding.”
